Ray Segar: One Man's Quest for History
Raymond W. Segar, a retired mining engineer, had a passion for working with maps, especially those that showed old logging railroads. Ray would work tirelessly plotting these railroad grades on a series of 12 maps of the entire northeast Minnesota region. Virtually all railroads that were used in the logging industry were accurately laid out, from western Lake of the Woods, to the the northeast tip of Minnesota, and as far south as Aitkin. Eventually Ray’s maps would cover 25,000 square miles with 6,000 miles of railroad grades. One Man's Quest details the account of Ray's efforts.
